The 2026 Diocese of the South annual synod was held at All Saints Anglican Church in lovely Aiken, South Carolina from April 29-May 1st. St. Benedict’s Anglican Church was represented by Fr. Nicholas Harrelson, Mr. Kevin Currin, Mrs. Jackie Kylander, and Mr. Ronald Harrelson. The delegates assisted in running the official business of the diocese while also representing their individual parishes.
The Diocese of the South grew over the year and by and large, is doing quite well on various fronts. St. Benedict’s, in particular, has many reasons to be excited. St. Benedict’s is the fastest growing church in the entire diocese, having added approximately sixty three people since the previous synod. The closest in growth was the pro-cathedral of St. Stephen’s in Athens, Georgia, a congregation just shy of three hundred.
Next year’s synod will again occur at the end of April and is likely to be held at St. Stephens in Athens, Georgia. If you are a parishioner of St. Benedict’s and have any interest in representing the parish next year at synod, please speak with Fr. Nicholas, Mr. Mike Murray, or Mrs. Jackie Kylander to register your interest. It is a wonderful time of fellowship, worship, work, and fun!
